The Long & Short of It

The Dreaded Sunday Night

Every Sunday, I’m presented with the same bedtime dilemma: lie awake because I’m not tired or go to bed late so I can fall asleep right away. This week I’m choosing to stay awake. I’m hoping I’ll get to watch the Red Sox get their asses kicked by the Rays, but I have a feeling the Sox will pull it out. I’m also trying to put off the start of the week. I have a feeling it’s going to be a rough one (good thing I had that tequila tonight). Perhaps that means I should jump right in and get it over with, but I’d prefer to stay sitting here on my couch just a little longer. It’s probably better because I spent the better part of the early afternoon in my bed–awake, but barely.

[I swear this blog would be better if I could write anonymously]

Oh, on Thursday I went to the Kennedy Center to see the National Symphony Orchestra. I’m so awesome that I got a coughing fit in the middle, but I think I hid it well enough. I was amused by the fact when the orchestra was playing loudly or when there was a pause between movements, you’d hear a chorus of coughs. I guess I wasn’t alone. I should probably mention that the orchestra was really good, but I prefer my coughing story.

I’ll leave you all with this dramatic quote from one of the TBS announcers:

If you give the Red Sox life, they’ll take the life away from you.

I Don’t Know About You, CNN.com

I’ll admit that I loved this story about a Polar Bear falling into a zoo moat, but I’m not sure that it deserves to be at the top of the page under the Latest Headlines section. Maybe if the bear had hurt himself it could go up there, but this is not a “if it bleeds, it leads” type scenario.

Oh, and what do I love about this story? This line just makes it:

Zero fell into the same moat 15 years ago and stayed there for nine days.

Apparently he’ll climb out of the moat when he is hungry enough.

It’s possible because I’m taller. Thanks NYT graphic.
